History of Connaught Heights Villa
The villa was built in the 1960s and has been maintained and renovated several times for the ideal living of senior citizens 55+.
Our Villa was one of the first in BC built specifically for low-income seniors. The building was originally built for retired ministers and missionaries from the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. And as these ministers moved to their home in Glory, we are the next generation.
The villa has 40 suites and our current senior residents come from a variety of career backgrounds and cultures. The villa does not discriminate against culture, skin colour, language or religious backgrounds. The residents stay for long periods (even up to 20 years) once they have settled in, until the time where they need more help or should be moved to an assisted living situation. Our current residents include 10 couples and around 30 singles.
The Villa Society plans carefully to fund additional improvements to the building, while maintaining a pleasing standard of cleanliness and safety to the residents, throughout the year. The Directors of the Villa Society stay aware of the needs arising from the residents and the villa’s building infrastructure. They meet at the Villa once a month and are continously involved with the administration, the residents and the Caretaker.
